According to the Charlotte Observer, Whole Foods has just announced plans to open a new store in South Charlotte. The store will be the anchor tenant in the upcoming Waverly development at the corner of Providence and Ardrey Kell Roads.
The store will be dependent upon rezoning of the property, which will be considered by the Charlotte City Council on March 17.
Whole Foods will compete with several other grocers in the area, including a Harris Teeter, which is located across the road from the proposed site.
In other recent grocery store news, Publix has announced that its first North Carolina store will open in Ballantyne on February 26.
