August home sales statistics are out, and the news appears positive for Charlotte!

Charlotte-area home sales in August were "up five percent from the year before and up nearly 26 percent from August 2010," according to the Charlotte Observer and data from the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association.

Charlotte News: Bank of America cutting jobs

According to the Charlotte Business Journal, Bank of America plans to cut 3,500 jobs nationwide. Here is the CBJ's statement regarding the potential impact on Charlotte:

"In Charlotte, BofA has about 15,000 employees at its headquarters and other operations. The bank (NYSE:BAC), the nation’s largest by assets, employs about 287,000 worldwide. The 3,500 job cuts represent a little more than 1 percent of the total work force. In Charlotte, a 1 percent reduction would be about 150 jobs lost. However, the bank hasn’t outlined how the layoffs will be distributed."
